Start Your Growing Journey

This complete set makes it simple to sow, grow and harvest indoors or outdoors. Use the propagator to start seeds, then transplant strong seedlings into the coir-filled bucket planters. Turn regularly for even growth and move outside once the risk of frost has passed.

What’s Included

  • Mini propagator with lid
  • Coir discs and coir block (soil substitute)
  • Sachets of seeds: Naga Chilli, Cherry Tomato (Minibel), Coriander (Cilantro Leaf) & Basil (Sweet Genovese)

Meet the Plants

  • Naga Chilli (up to 1,000,000 SHU): Sweet and slightly tart with woody, smoky undertones. Sow Feb–Mar; transplant Apr–May; harvest from July when fruits are firm.
  • Cherry Tomato – Minibel: Compact variety with vibrant, sweet fruits. Sow Feb–Mar; transplant Apr–May; harvest July–Oct when fruits turn red and ripe.
  • Coriander – Cilantro Leaf: Fresh, slightly citrus flavour. Sow indoors all year; transplant when large enough; harvest year-round.
  • Basil – Sweet Genovese: Classic pesto herb, perfect with tomatoes. Sow indoors all year; transplant when large enough; harvest year-round.

How to Grow

Step 1 – Prepare Coir: Add water to the coir block until fully expanded, then fluff to remove lumps.

Step 2 – Sow in Propagator: Hydrate coir discs, place 3–4 seeds on the surface, press lightly and cover. Fit the lid and place on a warm, sunny windowsill.

Step 3 – Transplant: Fill each bucket with moist coir, then gently move 1–2 strong seedlings into each planter. Avoid damaging roots or stems.

Step 4 – Grow On: Keep in a bright, sunny position (greenhouse or conservatory is ideal). Turn planters regularly to prevent plants leaning towards the sun.

Step 5 – Outside: After frost risk has passed, move planters outdoors to a sunny spot. Thin or pot on extra seedlings to avoid overcrowding.

Top Tips for Best Results

  • Smart companions: Grow chilli & coriander together, and tomato & basil together in the buckets for easy harvesting.
  • Start chillies early in the season for more heat. Warm conditions (greenhouse/conservatory) boost yields.
  • Feed chillies and tomatoes with liquid fertiliser when flowers appear and again as fruits swell.
  • Herb seeds are small - sow sparingly; firm onto moist coir rather than covering deeply.
  • Protect all plants from cold snaps; harden off before placing outdoors.
