  • Seed Weight: 10g per pack
  • Height: 25–45cm
  • Spread: Approx. 30cm per plant

How to Sow Iceland Poppy Seeds

Sow Outdoors:

  • Sowing time: March to May or August to September
  • Wait until after the last frost.
  • Choose a sunny spot and rake the area well.
  • Water the soil before sowing.
  • Create 3mm deep drills and sow thinly in lines.
  • Cover lightly with soil and keep moist until germination.

Sow Indoors (for early blooms):

  • Sow into trays of compost in autumn.
  • Harden off seedlings for 7 days before planting outside.
  • Space plants 30cm apart once large enough to handle.

Top Tips for Best Results

  • Poppies grow well in most garden soils, but need full sun.
  • Thin seedlings to give each plant space to spread.
  • Deadhead for tidy displays or leave to self-seed for natural regrowth.
  • Water the soil, not the petals — poppy blooms are delicate.
  • Sow over grassy or wild areas for a naturalised wildflower display.

Why We Love It

Iceland Poppies are a low-maintenance, high-impact wildflower that attract bees and brighten borders with delicate colour and movement. Great for natural garden styles, cut flower arrangements, and wildlife-friendly planting.

Germination takes 14–21 days. Store in a cool, dry place and sow within the season of purchase.
